About Patricia

The Amanda the Angel Series is a collection of short stories about an angel that I have created and published for my young readers. The Angel I created was named in memory of my first born child, Amanda. When my daughter was born, she suddenly struggled to breath, for her diaphragm formed with a hole to one side and when she needed to begin breathing on her own, her intestines and stomach sucked through that side of her diaphragm in which caused severe herniation up in her chest. This birth defect known as Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia or CDH hits one in every 2,500 births (1,600 cases in the US each year). When Amanda was born, there was little information and support available to us, we received a page of information, blurred from a copy machine on this birth defect. Our daughter fought to stay alive with the Hershey Medical team, but lost her life only a few weeks later.
Today, there’s a non-profit organization named CHERUBS - The Association of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Research, Awareness and Support, now available to parents like us. Their mission is our mission, raise awareness with new hope and funding. These parents need support and we need to stick together to fight. To learn more about CDH log onto: https://cdhi.org/
In addition my purpose with my books is to help children connect with faith through a special angel. Amanda is our family’s angel and we wanted to share her in a special way with other families. The stories I create are of difficult situations that children may face in their lives, in which reading it with a parent or guardian can help create an opportunity to connect and share any inner struggles.
You will also see available, an autobiography published by my father, Michael T. Goskowski. Michael shares his understanding of his life and others as the same way God had given four seasons. His aggressiveness and optimistic attitude to the future kept him looking forward to new heights. Feel his struggles, but more importantly, feel his strength in his faith in God and dedication to his family. More on his book will be released soon!

"Sometimes, God’s answer is no. We don’t know why, but we trust him, and we need to have faith in him."Becky’s best friend—her German shepherd Max—is the victim of a fatal accident. The angel Amanda’s comforting visit inspires Becky to commit her life to sharing her love for Max with other animals. When Sarah experiences sadness and anxiety over returning to school and being separated from her mom, Amanda helps Sarah see the importance of a good education. A fun day of shopping turns into a nightmare for Kristy when she gets separated from her mother and stuck in an elevator. Amanda comforts Kristy until help arrives. Chronic illness prevents Daryl from playing outdoors with friends. Amanda visits during Daryl’s surgery to allay his fears. Together, they have an amazing dream day of play. Amanda’s friendship gives Peter a listening ear to express his feelings, share memories of his dad, and finally heal from the pain of losing his father. Danny is being bullied and suffering in silence for fear of making things worse. Amanda intervenes and gets Danny the help he desperately needs.
This collection of children’s stories epitomizes trading beauty for ashes. Out of the tragedy of losing her newborn daughter, Amanda Leigh, the author has created the character Amanda, a beautiful guardian angel who watches over and comforts children in need. Each story in the collection deals with an issue that would be difficult for a child to comprehend—death, grief, separation anxiety, fear, and bullying. Each time, the angel Amanda appears, offering comfort, wisdom, and friendship that has long-lasting effects on the children’s lives well into adulthood. The healing power of friendship is a key recurring theme. The book also demonstrates how a simple act of kindness can positively impact and change the trajectory of a person’s life. The author encourages young readers to use faith to withstand life’s many challenges and storms.
