- This children's book has an intimate approach to dealing with what are universally applicable, and possibly traumatic episodes in a child's life. You're going to notice each story has a close setting involving a parent, or a doctor, a teacher etc and an angel to offer both guidance and comfort. Each difficult situation explores a recurring theme in that the child is encouraged to be open and a satisfying resolution is found to whatever issue the story deals with. That openness isn't something that is guaranteed, but brought out by the interaction with the angel. It's a useful book for parents because each story is relatable and offers guidance for people to understand what a child's experience may be like. By using the angel as a device to encourage each child to speak openly about their issues, you get a sense that you are tapping into what the child's perspective is. I believe the most applicable of the stories concerned issues of bullying and being separated in a store. A lot of children will experience this at some point. The calm, rational approach offered by the author, using the angel, offers a great perspective on how to tackle these issues either before or afterward.
